The recorded history of Craps dates all the way back to a dice game referred to as Hazard, which dates all the way back to Bernard de Mandeville in New Orleans in Early 1800’s. Hazard is believed to be a offshoot of Azzahr, which means ‘the die’ a game enjoyed by Arabs.

The game evolved as it spread out from the Arab regions to France and then to the UK. By the early 18th century, formal rules for Hazard had been established. France adopted the British version of Hazard and is believed to have been imported to America by early French settlers. In the mid-18th century, when the English defeated the French in Canada, the French colonists moved to Louisiana. Dice were enjoyed on river boats, casinos and wharfs and a modernized ‘US’ variation of Craps was created. The game moved west and is a popular game that is participated in all over the United States and all over the planet.

The name ‘Craps’ is considered to be a French articulation of the term crabs, which refers to two ‘1s’. There are 2 general varieties of Craps that are played-street Craps and casino Craps. Street caps, accurately called because it is bet on the streets is where a tosser makes a point and then attempts to make that point. The betting is made either for or opposed to the player and somebody has to cover the wager for the game to go ahead.

In casino Craps, which is the normal game, bet on in betting houses, the betting house backs the game. The gamblers wager against the house-the house covers all of the bets of all of the individuals. Craps used to be a quite loved game but in the last twenty years had split itself and different games, such as poker and chemin de fer became even more well-liked. However, Craps is experiencing a surge in popularity once again in internet betting houses and in real betting houses.
