If the pay out for a Do not Pass Odds wager is the same as the amt. of the Flat wager, then the Odds bet is bridged. The section of your Odds wager that is the same as the Flat wager is fixed directly next to the Flat wager. Then, the remainder of the Odds bet is put on top "bridging" them. As an example, suppose you make a 5 dollar Do not Pass wager and the hurler throws a point of eight. Knowing the true odds for the 8 are six to five (i.e., 6 ways to make a seven, and 5 ways to make an eight), you then lay six dollars in Odds with the expectation of winning 5 dollars. In this instance, if you win the six dollars Odds wager, you earn five dollars, which exactly equals the amount you win with your $5 Flat wager. Therefore, since your Flat bet and Odds wager capture the same amt. ($5 each), you bridge your 6 dollars Odds bet by laying a five dollar chip immediately next to your $5 Flat wager, and then putting the one dollar chip so it bridges the 2 $5 chips.

If the payoff for a Do not Pass Odds wager doesn’t equal the amt. of the Flat bet, then the Odds wager is heeled. This alludes to the fact that you place the first chip of your Odds bet chip stack directly next to your Flat wager. Then, position all remaining Odds bet chips on top of that single chip but to the side and angled on that bottom chip (your Odds wager chip stack is crooked because it is leaning on the bottom chip).

Befuddled? That is ok, don’t get nervous. The croupier is always ready to assist if you forget. After a few instances, it all makes perfect sense. It won’t take too much time before you are a master. If you are not certain what to do the first time you attempt it, simply tell the croupier, "I want to put some Odds but I don’t comprehend if it needs to be bridged or heeled." The dealer asks, "How much do you want to put?" Suppose you indicate, "15 dollars to win 10." The croupier will request that you drop your chips on the craps table (dealers aren’t permitted to take anything, in particular chips, right from a patron), and then the croupier correctly heels or bridges them based on the amount of your Flat wager. You’ll quickly get the feel of it. Just don’t be afraid to ask the croupier queries. Her job is not only to deal, but also to be accommodating and help the competitors.
